Ayurveda:

It is a method of mental and body healing that originated in India over 3,000 years ago. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that means “whole-body” treatment. It makes use of the world’s five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. It creates a bodily and mental equilibrium. Disease, according to popular thinking, is caused by internal imbalances. Weather, age, mood, and hereditary variables are all elements that have a role. It’s a whole lifestyle shift that begins with a change in nutrition and continues with meditation, yoga, and other treatments.

Elements that are incorporated into it are spices, plants, and oils. Which are the main parts of the diet. Plants such as fruit and vegetables are incorporated by the seasonality of food. They focus on what the food does for your body whether it heats it up or cools it down.

Summer (pitta dosha) Food:

This season is renowned for sattva, which is a detox, cleanse, and digestive boost. Other advantages include improved overall health, such as the immune system and mental wellness. Fresh fruits and vegetables, such as melons, pome fruit, and limes, will make you feel cooler. Dark meat and sour/citrus fruits should be avoided since they create heat in the body.

1. Hydration 

Staying hydrated is key no matter what. Drinking a gallon of water a day. If you are not a water fan there are ways to spice it up like drinking tea. Like making your own mint or ginger tea. Drinking coconut and aloe water are also great ways to stay hydrated, giving natural electrolytes. On top of that it’s also important to eat fruit because they can help with hydration like melons. Things to stay away from is coffee and alcohol. 

2. Ginger 

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties. It aids in the relief of chronic disease symptoms such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and lung disease. It also offers numerous other advantages, such as anti-aging qualities, cancer prevention, and increased immunity. 

Uses for ginger: 

  • Create a dressing 
  • Use it as a spice 
  • Make a soup 
  • Create a ginger tea
  • Ginger and lime hummus 
  • Curry or stir-fry 
  • Great topping for sushi 

3. Vegetables 

Green green vegetables, onion, garlic, nuts, carrots, and sweet potatoes may all be used to create wonderful recipes. These are excellent for reducing stomach acid and getting natural vitamins. 

4. Fruit 

Like mentioned before they are great for staying hydrated. The best fruits for hydration are: 

  • Watermelon 
  • Berries 
  • Peaches 
  • Mango 
  • Pineapple
  • Coconut 

How to eat/drink: 

  • Smoothies 
  • Flavored water 
  • Acai bowls 
  • Fruit Salad 

5. Protein

You can practice Ayurveda whether you’re a vegetarian or a meat eater. According to the literature, they used any good portion of the animal for healing and eating 3,000 years ago. The most important meal of the day is lunch, which takes place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. If you’re going to eat meat, it’s best to do it at lunchtime so your stomach doesn’t have to work as hard.

6. Herbs

Herbs and spices should be incorporated into every meal as they are good cleansing and balancing agents.
