Community Spotlight – Florentina Badea

My very first meeting with Flory was in 2021, when she came to attend an Indian Lunch. I was hosting this lunch at a restaurant, taking more than 30 people through a menu which was based on my interaction with my cuisine. Thanks to my photographic memory, I vividly remember this very cheerful young lady dressed in black, came up to me to greet me, saw me struggling alone and offered to help me. And there she was, at her very first event of Tasty Talks helping me serve instead of eating and enjoying with other guests.
Since that day, Flory has a special place in my heart. Even though the event had its flaws, Flory had amazing things to say about her experience and never stopped herself from promoting Tasty Talks. I have come across so many people who told me that it was Flory who told them about Tasty Talks. It’s people like her who make expat living worthy, because of the warmth and support they give to everyone around them.
Over little more than a year that I have known her, I have come to know of Flory as a bit of everything – Joyful, Ambitious, Fierce and kind at the same time, someone who wants to become the best version of herself every day, someone who pushes her boundaries continuously and a very giving person.
My favorite part of running Tasty Talks is that I meet people like Flory, who bring people like her to these events and then I meet more and more similar people, the word of mouth creates and amazing Ripple effect creating this really amazing, warm community.
I truly believe that only Lit lamps light others, and I certainly consider Flory one. The number of Times she must have helped Tasty Talks grow is uncountable. She always tells me that she owes most of her community in Amsterdam to Tasty Talks, and what I always feel is that Tasty Talks owes a lot of it’s community to Flory.
On her birthday, I couldn’t think of a better way of thanking her than writing a heartfelt note and the very first Blogpost of our Community Spotlights.
You can find Flory and connect with her on Instagram or find her at a Tasty Talks event, haha!
