Festa Junina – a month long festive celebration in the month of June in Brazil is a joyful time of people coming together, rejoicing with singing and dancing, bonding over food and living a beautiful life.

Join host Alivre, in her home in Castricum as she is all set to create a taste and atmosphere of Festa Junina in her home garden.

“Pratinho junino” is a cherished tradition in Northeastern Brazil, particularly during the festive June celebrations. This culinary delight embodies the spirit of the region, featuring a small bowl or disposable plate filled with a mix of traditional Northeastern delicacies. During this event, Alivre will showcase a vegetarian version of these dishes.

Vegan Vatapá – Vatapá is an Afro-Brazilian dish traditionally made from bread, shrimp, coconut milk, finely ground peanuts and Dendê coconut oil mashed into a creamy paste.
A vegan version without shrimp will be served.
Baião de Dois – Brazilian dish of beans and rice, with cheese.
Creamy chicken – Creamy chicken dish using a vegan replacement.
Farofa – Toasted cassava flour

If possible, opt for clothing featuring checkered patterns or vibrant floral prints.
 

Activities
Balloon Dance

Each participant gets a balloon and place between their legs. Set a course and get everyone dancing! The objective is to be the last person standing without dropping the balloon. You can also perform this activity in pairs by placing the balloon between the hips of two participants. 
 
Egg race (outdoors – if weather allows)
Each participant must balance an egg on a spoon and run from the starting line to the finish line as quickly as possible without dropping the egg. To make it more exciting, instead of holding the spoon with one hand, the runner can hold it in their mouth, keeping their arms behind their back. If you prefer not to use raw or boiled eggs, the game also works perfectly with ping-pong balls or little water balloons.
