Nepalese Momos Workshop – Lelystad
Event Date:
July 7, 2024
Event Time:
1:00 pm
Join Host Sharda for a hands on Nepalese Momos workshop in Lelystad.
Prepare your taste buds for the journey with a tantalizing spread of Nepalese milk tea and Nepalese vegan snacks. Then, roll up your sleeves and join me in the kitchen as we create momos from scratch. With separate stations for chicken and veggie options, rest assured your culinary preferences are catered to.
The workshop will kick off with a serving of one of Nepal’s most common snacks: potato achar with furan Dana, a unique taste you have to experience to truly appreciate. All starters will be vegan and accompanied by hot milk tea. Once everyone is settled, our journey into the world of momos begins.
We’ll split into two teams: one focusing on vegan options and the other on non-veg.
Each group, consisting of 3-5 members, will collaborate on various tasks like chopping, cutting, kneading, filling, and folding momos. Simultaneously, we’ll prepare three different kinds of sauces (chutney). Once everything is ready, we’ll come together to enjoy the fruits of our labour.
No experience necessary—just bring your appetite and an eagerness to learn!

About the host:
I’m Sharda Rai, born and raised in Nepal. Cooking with my mother has always been an essential part of my life. For me, preparing and cooking food is not just a necessity, but also a therapeutic activity. Whenever I have the chance, I love to explore cuisines from around the world. Today, I’m excited to share with you a beloved Nepalese dish called ‘momo.’ Momo isn’t just a popular food in Nepal; it’s a dish that brings people together, whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks. It represents the collaborative spirit of making something delicious as a group.
