Join us for this amazing experience that takes you to a culinary trip to to Peru with our host Mariela from Peru. Mariela runs Proef Peru, a company that creates authentic peruvian experiences for people living in the Netherlands. Mariela has been hosting Peruvian food experiences with Tasty Talks since some years and her food is loved by all.

We will be preparing these 2 typical dishes from Peru along with the cultural ceremony attached to the dish, something that you won’t find in Netherlands otherwise. Come and experience this uniquely curated event with great food and live Peruvian music.

*PACHAMANCA

This Peruvian dish has a culinary tradition  that goes back thousands of years, consists on cooking, over preheated stones, beef, pork, chicken, previously macerated with spices, as well as additional it will be served with potatoes, sweet potatoes and other vegetables.

This dish is a ritual that pays tribute to the Earth’s fertility and it is a way of honoring the pachamama “Mother Earth”. The message behind the “Pachamanca” is the importance of the connection with the earth and nature and celebrating the elements of Earth.

Pachamanca is a word from the Quechua language that means “pot on earth” or “when the earth becomes a pot”. In principle, the cooking technique entails cooking food on heated stones.

We will be preparing this dish in the closest way as it is prepared in Peru We will show how a “huatia” is used for pre heating the stones and the way of cooking.

* CEVICHE CLASICO

This is a Peruvian classic dish, it is a delicious raw white fish dish marinated with a delicious “Leche de tigre” and served with sweet potatoes and Peruvian corn, in addition to this we will serve a Peruvian snack “canchita serrana” (roasted corn) and chifles (fried plantain chips).
