Chai and Conversations – A Quiet Presence

For our next edition of Chai and Conversations, we gather around the work of Yashwant Deshmukh, whose exhibition A Quiet Presence unfolds through restraint, subtlety, and the power of negative space.

Rooted in our ongoing exploration of South Asian cultures through food and contemporary art, this edition draws from Maharashtra, the artist’s place of origin. The menu becomes an extension of his visual language — thoughtful, minimal, and intentionally composed.

Yashwant Deshmukh’s paintings resist immediacy. Forms emerge slowly, held in quiet tension between presence and withdrawal. Nothing insists on attention; instead, each work invites a slower, more attentive way of seeing.

Taking this as our cue, we shape the afternoon as a shared experience of pause, perception, and presence.

Food is not simply served, it is placed.
Space is not empty, it is active.
And conversation unfolds gently, like the works themselves.

Together, we gather around chai, taste, and silence — allowing art to reveal itself over time.
